Someone once told me that they could never understand how other trans folx were proud of their gender identity when they felt that they had been born with a genetic abnormality and disability. Obviously therapy often entails reframing uncomfortable or unhealthy ways of looking at the world but it’s an inconvenient truth that gender diversity has a painful effect in many people’s lives. How should we understand someone whose gender doesn’t match their understanding of their body? Is their body something that needs to be fixed, or celebrated? Medical research scientist and physician MD Aware from Truth Wanted joins me on this week’s SecX to walk us through his thoughts and to take your calls and questions. Catch the episode below and be sure to check back afterwards for some footNOTES!
